25yo suspect arrested within 6 hours after Yishun knife attack, man hospitalised

Singapore ― A man was stabbed by an unknown attacker in Yishun Street 31 on Saturday (Oct 2), the suspect was arrested within six hours after police investigations.

On Sunday (Oct 3), the police said they were alerted to the incident, which happened at 11:40 pm the night before.

Reports noted that the victim suffered from lacerations to his chest and shoulder. He was conscious when conveyed to the hospital.

Before the police arrived at the scene, the attacker had fled, reported Straits Times.

Woodlands Police Division officers conducted investigations and identified the suspect.

The 25-year-old was arrested within six hours from when the crime was reported, following investigations.

The man suspected of being involved in the crime will be charged in court on Monday (Oct 4) with voluntarily causing hurt by a dangerous weapon.

For the offence, he may be imprisoned for up to seven years, fined, caned or a combination of the punishments.

In February earlier this year, the police were alerted to an incident along Jurong East Street 32 involving a man stabbing a woman multiple times.

The woman was found motionless and conveyed to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital while unconscious.

She was later pronounced dead.

Preliminary investigations revealed the man and woman are known to each other.

The man was charged with murder on Feb 18. /TISG
