Former presidential candidate Tan Kin Lian posts photo with filter on it, jokes that he just spent a week in jail

Over the weekend, 2011 Presidential Election Candidate Tan Kin Lian posted an altered image of himself on social media, and joked that it was because he had just spent a week in jail.

On Sunday (June 16), he used what seemed to be a filter available on the Snapchat app that not only changed his hair colour into a vivid shade of green, it also gave him a new set of eyebrows and altered his facial hair.

As caption for the photo, Mr Tan, a former chief executive officer of NTUC Income asked, “I look ok? Nobody asked – why I look liddat?”

Continuing, he added, “Answer – I just spent a week in jail”.

Not one to ruin his reputation, Mr Tan then clarified, “Joking OK?”

Many netizens found his photo rather amusing, and had a whole range of comments, some of which Mr Tan even responded to in good humour.

Last month, after Mr Tan published his NRIC number on his Facebook page, an unknown person repeatedly used it to try to log into his SingPass account.

SingPass is the national password system that gives users access to government e-services and agencies here.

Along with his NRIC number, he also published his e-mail address, mobile phone number and date of birth.

As a result, the authorities blocked his access to his account. Mr Tan then called for a review of SingPass’ security features. /TISG
