Motorcyclist who hit deer dashing across Upper Thomson Road taken to hospital

A motorcyclist was taken to hospital after hitting a deer along Upper Thomson Road.

Reports and photos circulating online said that the deer ran across the road and the motorcyclist was unable to stop in time.

The police said they were alerted to an accident on Saturday night (Sept 21) involving a motorcycle in Upper Thomson Road towards Thomson Road at 9.23pm, according to a Straits Times report.

The motorcyclist, a 25-year old man was conscious when taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital after the accident, the police said.

The police added that they could not confirm the deer’s condition as it retreated back into the forest after it was hit.

Last year, a deer died after a motorcyclist collided with it on Mandai Road on. The motorcyclist sustained minor injuries and photos of the animal and the incident were widely circulated online. That incident was the third reported roadkill case involving wild deer reported last year.

Many of these incidents are said to occur because of the roads that cut through jungles, displacing the animals. /TISG
