Progress Singapore Party seeks to understand Singaporeans’ major concerns ahead of first islandwide walkabout

The Progress Singapore Party (PSP) is seeking to understand the major concerns Singaporeans have, ahead of its inaugural islandwide walkabout that is set to take place this Sunday (29 Sept).

The party, which is led by veteran politician Dr Tan Cheng Bock, has uploaded a survey online and asked Singaporeans to share their concerns with the party so that the party can better represent their needs.

The survey, which assures individuals that all information that is submitted will be kept private and confidential, asks participants what their age group, occupation and marital status is before asking them to rank how concerned they are about the following issues:

“GST Hike, Health Care Costs, Education, Costs of Utilities (Electricity & Gas), Public Transport, HDB Prices & Policies, Economy, Salary, CPF Funds, Retirement adequacy, Costs for looking after an elderly, Job Security, Costs for raising a child, Generation wealth transfer, Social Inequality, Political leadership, Costs of vehicle ownership, Meritocracy, Lack of Entreprenuership”

Participants, who can submit other concerns they may have in the online survey, are also asked which media channels they use daily – presumably so the party can communicate better with voters.

Besides seeking the views of Singaporeans, the party is also inviting the people to join them on their walkabout this weekend. In a video released today, party chief Dr Tan invited people to visit them during the walkabout and said that he would love to meet all who came.

The PSP’s inaugural walkabout comes weeks after the Government announced the first firm step towards the next election, with the formation of the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee (EBRC).

The party has yet to announce the timing, meeting point and details on regions that will be covered in the walkabout but the event could give observers a clue as to which wards the PSP might contest in the next election.
