The partnership between Singapore’s Golden Equator Consulting Singapore and Brunei’s Darussalam Enterprise

Today, Singapore’s Golden Equator Consulting (GECo) and Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) of Brunei officially launched its 4th accelerator program name ‘Start-up Boot Camp’.

The main goal of the program is to equip Bruneian startups and SMEs with the skillsets they need to establish scalable and sustainable businesses.

Ideas, products, or services with a strong export potential will get further mentorship and access to international markets, especially in Southeast Asia.

This time, the 100-day program will focus on F&B, agriculture, healthcare, cosmetics, and technology.

Previously a shy country when it comes to the startup industry, Javen Ahmad, the CEO of DARe hopes this will help Brunei open up.

“Start-ups and SMEs are the way forward for our nation to grow and diversify our economy from oil and gas while providing more expansive employment opportunities to our local talents and graduates,” he said.

Shirley Crystal Chua, the Founder and Group CEO of GECo explains that this programme is part of an effort to connect with frontier markets of Asia’s startup scene:

“This partnership with Brunei Darussalam’s national SME body is a further a testament to our constant effort in connecting with the regional technology and investment community to create a stronger start-up ecosystem for Asia,” she said.

GECo specializes in market-entry advisory for businesses. It has a network that includes venture capital firms, blockchain and cryptocurrency consultants, and other specialists. It also has a technology and innovation business club called SPECTRUM. GECo also conducts boot camps for start-ups which are looking to expand into Southeast Asia.

The registration for Start-up Boot Camp will be closed by 27 August 2018. The programme kickstarts on September 6 and the Demo Day is January 10 of next year.

On Demo Day, the top three candidates from the program will get to pitch to a panel of Singapore-based investors.
