Flip roti prata and get a diploma; Casuarina Curry shares business strategy amid Covid-19

Singapore ― Breakfast or supper, learn how to make roti prata like a pro and even get a diploma-like certificate after the workshop.

Casuarina Curry, known for its mouthwatering prata on the spot specials, was recently featured by media for its prata-making workshop.

“Master the art of creating your very own Prata! A dough making explanation, Prata flipping demonstration and hands-on flipping,” said the business on its Facebook page.

Its two-hour workshop includes a free flow of special pratas, a hot drink and a certificate of participation, giving attendees the right to flaunt their newfound skill of flipping pratas.

Interested applicants are required to form a group of eight before scheduling a session worth S$25 per person. Those who want to go alone can do so and will be grouped accordingly.

Learning how to handle the delicate prata from masters is a must-try, so head on to 187 MacPherson Road, where the restaurant has been making traditional prata since 2011.

The Independent Singapore has reached out to Casuarina Curry for a statement.

Company partner Mr Keerthi confirmed that the workshop is still available, with a minimum of five attendees per class.

The class would be split up into groups of two to comply with safe management measures.

When asked how the business was doing amid the pandemic, Mr Keerthi noted that sales dropped by 30 per cent.

“Every time we do promos and marketing, there is a lockdown, and the business drops again,” he said.

“The two pax dining restriction has made it tough for us to accommodate the guests coming in,” he added.

Management has been boosting their online marketing campaigns to “bring the crowd back.”

One of their latest promotions is the prata buffet which ends on Oct 1.

Diners have 90 minutes to consume to enjoy prata to their hearts’ content.

Mr Keerthi shared they were also working on new ways to excite customers and keep business afloat. /TISG
