Partially vaccinated grandma making a scene at Chinatown after being denied dine-in entry

Singapore ― A woman was spotted making a scene in Chinatown after she was not allowed to dine in due to her alleged incomplete vaccination status.

Facebook page Singapore Incidents posted a video on Saturday (Oct 16) with the caption, “Not fully vaccinated Grandma making a scene after being refused to dine in at Chinatown.”

The video began with the elderly woman in a green dress who appeared to be struggling at the mall entrance.

A man in a pink shirt was pulling the woman’s arm, but she refused.

Security personnel were nearby attempting to address the situation. The woman was heard arguing with the staff.

The video changes scene to a food court area, with the woman breaking through the barricade tape.

She continued arguing with those around her.

The video ends with the woman sitting on the ground.

Beginning Oct 13, unvaccinated individuals will not be allowed into shopping malls, large standalone stores, and attractions. They can only do a takeout from hawker centres, and coffee shops – meaning unvaccinated individuals will be excluded from dining in at all food & beverage establishments.

Such measures were implemented amid spikes in Covid-19 community cases.

In response to the video, members of the online community wondered why some people refuse to follow instructions.

“I don’t understand how people just can’t follow simple instructions and demand that things go their way,” said Facebook user A.j. Kasetyo.

Others commented on ageing gracefully, “One thing I observe about ageing gracefully is that we need to be lovable to be well received by younger generations,” said Facebook user Serena Immanuel.

“This kind very sad, likely left alone because hard to live with or interact with. Learn to live and let live; life would be kinder for us in sunset years.”

Meanwhile, netizens spared a thought for the security staff during these situations. “Was she arrested? Many clusters in Chinatown due to this kind of elderly. Breaking public property and abusing hawkers or security guards,” noted Facebook user Jun Yang Lee. /TISG
