Woman ‘feels bad for wasting boyfriend’s time on dates, especially when his mind would often be elsewhere’ — asks for advice 

A woman who describes her boyfriend as a complete extrovert asks netizens if there is any chance their values would align.

She writes, in an anonymous post on the confessions page NUSWhispers, that he is very outspoken and has many friends, whereas she is introverted and keeps to herself.

“One thing about my bf is that he’s a very caring and ‘fatherly’ kind of person as he’s the oldest son in his large family, which was what attracted me to him in the first place. However, this seemed to have become a double edged sword, as he is constantly trying to take care of and solve problems for everyone around him,” she says.

She feels like she’s “dating a VIP” because she always has to fight for his time, and that this is an issue on weekends when he gets a constant flow of text messages. While he has never cancelled a date to meet his friends, she says, “the moment we agree to postpone or cancel any plans he will immediately be ‘booked’ by someone else”.

So she feels guilty for  “occupying his precious time when he could be using it to help someone else”, she says. She says that she also does not want him to feel obligated to spend time with her especially when his mind would often be elsewhere.

She says it bothers her that her boyfriend has “too many priorities”. But she is in a dilemma. “I love this guy very much but I just don’t see how this will get any better, especially when he has hinted on getting married and having kids together one day”.
