Train services disrupted twice within 12 hours

One reader informed this publication at about 6.30am today (26 Apr) that commuters in the Sembawang station in the North-South Line (NSL), had to wait for more than 10 minutes for a train, and that trains were slow moving.
Since then, SMRT has confirmed that train services were disrupted for about half an hour this morning.

The public transport provider apologised a second time within 12-hours for the disruption and said that a “traction power fault” stopped train service between Kranji and Woodlands MRT stations on the NSL.
Two days after Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan celebrated the NSL’s disruption free 100-days, a train fault hit the NSL’s train service from Marina South Pier to Newton towards Jurong East on 21 Apr.


Then yesterday evening (25 Apr), there was another disruption in the NSL due to a power trip. Several stations experienced blackouts, and news started trickling in that even the Bukit Panjang LRT system was affected.
Singapore Democratic Party’s candidate for Bukit Batok, Dr Chee Soon Juan, who was at the Bukit Batok MRT station this morning at about 8.30am said that trains were up and running smoothly at the station at that time.
