“So unfair” — Netizens question why selfish biker was given only a warning for parking in car slot when “for car, straight away give fine!”

SINGAPORE: Singaporeans are questioning why a selfish biker was allegedly only given a warning for taking up a whole car parking slot after an online user shared a photo of the ticket left on the vehicle.

An online user took to a Facebook group on Wednesday (June 28) to share a photo of a motorbike taking up a car parking slot. “Selfish biker, OBG got a fine ticket,” the post read. And upon closer inspection, many other online users pointed out that the piece of paper left on the bike was just a warning.

The advisory notice read, “This notice serves as a warning to comply with the parking rules in the future. No payment is required this time.” It also added, “If you commit another parking offence, a Notice of Parking Offence will be issued.”

This notice sparked conversation among netizens, with a good handful questioning why the bike owner got away with a mere warning.

“Just a warning,” one pointed out, while another wrote “, So unfair… if for car, straight away give fine! Never seen issues fine for car parking offences.”

A third wrote, “No wonder nobody cares. Warning only… next time, still can park.”

“Should have just confiscated the bike and impounded it!” said a fourth.

“He’s got money to pay the fine, so what!” exclaimed another.

However, to one netizen, the solution was “simple.” “Wait out a day or two,” the comment read. “If found parking at (a) car lot again, just report to HDB. They will fine as already repeat offence.”
