Primary 5 boy dies unexpectedly in school bus – police investigating

A 11-year-old student from Maris Stella High School died in the school bus on his way to school on 30 Aug (Tuesday). The boy, Zenneth Hue Yee Hon, did not respond when the school bus arrived at the school.

Zenneth was immediately taken by to the KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH), where he was pronounced dead. The boy’s parent have said that they are shocked over his death as he was healthy and had no pre-existing health problems. Parents of some of his classmates though told The Straits Times that their children had told them he had been unwell the day before he died.

Parents of other children from the school reportedly received an e-mail from the form teacher saying that some students “may not be able to cope with the sudden loss of a classmate and a friend”, but reassured parents that the school would offer “that listening ear to the boys and provide the emotional support that they need during this difficult time”. The email also asked parents to monitor their children to see how they were coping.

The police are investigating the unnatural death.
