Man says he was planning to propose, but his GF of 5 years left him

SINGAPORE: A heartbroken man took to social media because his girlfriend of five years left him for someone else. In an anonymous post to popular confessions page NUSWhispers, the man said that he was in the relationship for about 2006 days, or five years. He added that he was planning to propose to his girlfriend.

“I still remember the day I first saw her, our first date, the first time we held hands. The bits and pieces of us we leave behind in our rooms or belongings. All these memories are now reduced to objects. How does one move on from this when one gets blindsided by it? When they are told it would be better and healthier for them to move on. When they know their partner is already contemplating on pursuing something with someone else”, he wrote. In his post, he wondered if it was his fault that he took too long before proposing.

He also thought that their relationship would be able to stand the test of time. “My friends tell me to not lose confidence in myself and that she just decided she wanted something else. Sound advice though a tough pill to swallow. I believe nothing would change her mind anymore but I hope this reaches her since she might come across this”, the man wrote.

At the end of his post, he left a note for his ex-girlfriend. He wished her the best and thanked her for their years together. Netizens who commented on the post advised him: “The OP needs to understand some facts. Focus on your career and the women will come. A man who is successful in his career and takes responsibility on his own health and fitness is attractive to women. She decided to pursue someone else because she can’t see any future in you. Nothing about proposal in specific. If she sees a future, she won’t mind waiting for that. And this future is usually the fundamental male achievement like the ones i mentioned. And on the other hand, you are right that a Good girl will go through thick and thin with you. So seeing through her predilections early will save you a massive load of heartbreaks in future. Another added: “There would have been signs in the 5 years but you got comfortable and took her for granted that she was going to wait around a few more years. That’s why you feel blindsided. But I’m sure she would have indicated to you in those 5 years. Maybe even after 5 years also she see you got no future. She just got sick of waiting. No woman should be waiting that long for a man to commit to her. She made the right choice to move on. 5 years is a long time”.
