Man seriously injured in Orchard Gateway incident passes away

A man is seriously injured in an incident which happened at Orchard Gateway earlier this afternoon. There are conflicting reports of what happened. Yahoo Singapore reported that a Chinese man aged 50 fell from the 4th floor of the building, while an eyewitness, Jenny Chue, said that something dropped from the ceiling and hit a young man.

In the video shared by Yahoo, passerby are seen trying to revive the injured man. Paramedics from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) who arrived soon after also tried to revive the man using CPR while leaving with the man on a stretcher.

SCDF said that the man was conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, and that the hospital was alerted to be on standby to receive him.

UPDATE: It has been confirmed that the injured man is a 17-year-old youth. Today newspaper reported that the teen was taking photos of his friends when he dropped his handphone and was attempting to retrieve the phone from the ledge when he fell. It has been confirmed that he has passed away. SCDF said that it was alerted to the incident at about 4.05pm.
