Pahang Regent Gifts Johor Sultan with a Working “Flintstones” Car

Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum, Sultan Iskandar of Johor, received a “Flintstones” car from the Regent of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Ibni Sultan Ahmad Shah. Photos of the vehicle were posted on the Sultan’s Facebook account last Monday, January 15.

The car is an imitation of the one used by Fred Flintstone in the popular cartoon of many years ago, and it actually has a motor and runs. The gift is especially significant, since the Sultan is known for his love of cars, and, as the post says, that Flintstones is Sultan Iskandar’s favorite cartoon, with  Fred Flintstone being his most beloved character.

The post further indicated that the car is “guaranteed to turn heads” and is motorized, unlike the cartoon version, which used people’s foot power to get the car moving. This means that the Sultan will actually be able to drive around in the vehicle.

The official representative of Pahang’s Crown Prince, Datuk Manjit Abdullah, presented the Flintstones car to the Sultan at Istana Pasir Pelangi in Johor Bahru.

The car even has a provision for when it rains. “And, just in case it rains, the car comes complete with a makeshift cloth ‘roof’ with a cut-out back screen in lieu of an actual rear window,” the Facebook post reads.

The Sultan is sure to have a “Yabba, Dabba, Doo” time in his new vehicle.

Malaysia’s nine sultans take turns serving as their country’s head of state (Yang di-Pertuan Agong) every five years. They are also the ceremonial heads of their own states.

Commenters, many of whom had grown up watching the Flintstones cartoons, on the post were delighted at the unique gift to the Sultan.
