Cake shop in Jurong Point refers to Singapore as ‘Overseas Province’ of China

Famous cake shop Le Castella that originated from Taiwan and is known for its thick fluffy sponge cakes has termed Singapore an ‘overseas province’ of China on all of their receipts.

Their was pointed out by the secretary-general of the People’s Power Party (PPP), Mr Goh Meng Seng, who said, “What is this NONSENSE! Singapore is termed as “Oversea Province ” of China?!”

The mistake was first shared online by netizen Alvin Teo.

This is not the first time Singapore has been wrongly termed, as earlier this year, the transcript of United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s remarks at a press briefing has listed Singapore as part of Malaysia.

Netizens who commented on the post had a laugh, saying that this error has happened in Singapore many times before, so it should just be shrugged off.
