Chan Chun Sing: Public servants, stay humble and “walk the journey with us”

Monday marked the start of the annual Public Service Week, and in his message to public servants, Minister-in-charge of the Public Service Chan Chun Sing reminded the 145,000 or so public officers in Singapore to stay humble and work together as a team.

Mr Chan spoke in a video uploaded by the Public Service Division, where the main takeaway of his message was to mobilise people “to walk the journey with us”. Mr Chan added, “If we can do that, then there’s really nothing stopping us from building an even better Singapore for generations to come”.

Public Service Week this year aims to showcase the upcoming focus of the public service in the years to come. Since Mr Chan took charge of the public service in May, this year’s Public Service Week is his first.

Earlier today, about 600 public service officers attended a reception at the Istana, hosted by President Halimah Yacob. Tomorrow, July 4, Public Sector Transformation awards will be given to about 400 individuals and agencies to recognise their work in the fields of service, innovation and best practices. On Thursday, a convention at Resorts World Sentosa will be held to the theme of “Digital Government for a Smart Nation”.

Yesterday morning, Mr Chan also shared a post on his personal Facebook page thanking public officers for their service, and wishing them for the upcoming week.
