ESM Goh’s new biography sells 20,000+ copies and raises over $2 million for disadvantaged students and persons with disabilities or special needs

Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong revealed on Facebook last Thursday that his authorised biography, entitled Tall Order: The Goh Chok Tong Story, has sold over 20,000 copies and has raised more than $2 million through a charity book launch, to go towards helping disadvantaged students and persons with disabilities and special needs.

Thanking donors at the charity book launch for their support and sharing that he is “overwhelmed” by the “abundant benevolence” of those who contributed, ESM Goh revealed that the money that was raised will go to the Mediacorp Enable Fund to help People with Disabilities and Special Needs and Edugrow for Brighter Tomorrows under Marine Parade Leadership Foundation.

Noting that the funds that were raised were made possible by “Singaporeans who have done well are giving back to help others,” ESM Goh encouraged his friends to be “generous” and purchase the book since all royalties from the sale of the book will also go to the two charities.

Adding that his publisher told him that over 20,000 copies of the biography have been sold, ESM Goh thanked his biographer, ex-Straits Times journalist Peh Shing Huei, for doing “a great job in writing Tall Order as an easy-to-read story of my life and political journey up to 1990.”

ESM Goh confirmed that Peh Shing Huei will start on the second part of the biography, that is expected to cover the rest of Goh’s life and career after he became Singapore’s second Prime Minister, next year.

The former head of government’s biography, which is presently available at all major bookshelves, garnered immense hype after excerpts covering Goh’s thoughts on Lee Kuan Yew, his family members and veteran opposition figures were released online:
