Girl Hit by Car in Ubi, Violently Thrown

Yesterday morning, a sixteen year-old schoolgirl was hit by a red Suzuki along Ubi Avenue 1.

The video, taken from a car that was parked along the road, shows the girl looking left before crossing, but failing to check her right side. She completely fails to notice the oncoming car and dashes across the road.

There is also something to be said about the speed at which the car was travelling at, because the incident could have been avoided, or the impact lessened, if the car was going at a slower speed.

According to road rules and regulations published on the Land Transport Authority’s website, cars are to maintain a speed of 50 kilometres per hour on roads, and a speed of 70 to 90 kilometres per hour on expressways.

The impact of the collision was rather violent, with the girl thrown a few metres down the road.

Almost immediately, passers-by came to her aid, and moved her to a nearby grass patch.

According to an update, the girl is recovering from her injuries.

Netizens seemed to be more upset that the girl was moved after the accident, than about the accident itself.
