Mercedes driver runs red light and rams into pedestrian crossing the road

Police are investigating the driver of a black Mercedes Benz who rammed into a female pedestrian, knocking her down after running a red light.

"Witnessed an accident in the morning around 11.50am at North Buona Vista Road on 28th July 2017. A police report has been made.""To the driver of Black Mercedes SJF6519G:- you failed to keep a lookout when doing a turn. – you have no right of way even if the traffic light is green in your favour as you claimed it was. – you should not have refused to exchange particulars after involving in an accident especially when injury is caused to a person.- you claimed that you work in NUH but yet failed to render medical assistance and tried to downplay the incident instead.""It is also ironic that you claimed you saw the girl dashed across the road, tripped and fell when you actually drove into her like you did not even see her.""Good luck in trying to change your police statement after this."(Video & Caption by Corden Fu, eye-witness to this accident)

The incident occurred on Friday, 29 June at North Buona Vista Road. Corden Fu, an eyewitness at the scene released the video and recounted:

“Witnessed an accident in the morning around 11.50am at North Buona Vista Road on 28th July 2017. A police report has been made.
“To the driver of Black Mercedes SJF6519G:
– you failed to keep a lookout when doing a turn.
– you have no right of way even if the traffic light is green in your favour as you claimed it was.
– you should not have refused to exchange particulars after involving in an accident especially when injury is caused to a person.
– you claimed that you work in NUH but yet failed to render medical assistance and tried to downplay the incident instead.
“It is also ironic that you claimed you saw the girl dashed across the road, tripped and fell when you actually drove into her like you did not even see her.
“Good luck in trying to change your police statement after this.”

Netizens who watched the video of the incident first expressed concern that the pedestrian was absorbed in her mobile phone, leading to the accident. In a second video from another angle, it appears that she never did that and that she was only sipping from a cup of coffee.
