PM Lee wishes Dr Mahathir happy birthday

In the spirit of solidarity, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong expressed well wishes to Malaysian Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad on his birthday.

PM Mahathir turns 94 today, July 10.

In the Facebook post, PM Lee gave his best wishes to the Malaysian leader. PM Lee also added that he is looking forward to welcoming PM Mahathir and his wife Siti Hasmah at Singapore’s upcoming National Day Parade.

The National Day Parade (NDP) is scheduled on Aug 9 with the theme “Our Singapore” and is the nation-state’s bicentennial celebration. Following PM Lee’s invitation, Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and Indonesian President Joko Widodo have also confirmed attendance to the NDP this year.

The diplomatic yet heartfelt birthday greeting on Facebook is accompanied by a photo of PM Lee and his wife Ho Ching alongside PM Mahathir and Siti Hasmah during the 33rd ASEAN Summit hosted by Singapore last November 2018.

During the ceremony last November, Mahathir and his wife were honoured to have an orchid named after them as “Dendrobium Mahathir Siti Hasmah.”

The majority of netizens responded well to the post and expressed their birthday wishes to the esteemed Malaysian leader. -/TISG
