Security Guard lands in ICU after being flung out of moving private-hire car

A 31-year-old security guard known only as Wong has reportedly been hospitalised in critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit at Singapore General Hospital after he was flung out of a moving private-hire car this morning.

Wong had boarded a private-hire car, said to be a Grab car, with a Vietnamese woman also believed to be a security guard, after completing his night shift at a store in Telok Blangah, the Chinese daily reported.

Minutes later, as the car was moving along Telok Blangah Road near the Sentosa Gateway, Wong was suddenly flung out of the vehicle. The circumstances leading up to the incident remain unclear.

The driver immediately stopped the car to help Wong and called for an ambulance. At the hospital, Wong underwent 2 head operation and has now been placed on a respirator, according to his brother.

Police investigations are ongoing.

This is not the first time someone has been critically injured after falling out of a moving vehicle. Just two months ago, 22-year-old Dominic Lee died from sustaining critical injuries after he jumped out of a car cruising along Bedok Reservoir Road on 10 June.

The circumstances of his death are shrouded in mystery, as well.
