Trump trolls Obama using his own tweet from years ago

US President Donald Trump has thrown shade at his predecessor Barack Obama once again as he highlighted an old tweet Obama had posted seven years ago that appears to support the policies that Trump is enacting now.

Putting an end to illegal immigration by erecting a wall at the US-Mexico border is one of Trump’s key election promises in the run-up to the 2016 Presidential Election. In recent months, efforts to secure funding to erect this proposed border wall has been ongoing.

President Trump even shared a design of the wall on social media, showing that the wall comprises of tall poles capped with spikes to deter those who might try to scale the wall. He tweeted, last weekend: “A design of our Steel Slat Barrier which is totally effective while at the same time beautiful!”

Yesterday evening, the President took to Facebook again and used his predecessor’s own words to highlight the importance of curtailing illegal immigration.

Back in 2011, in the fourth year of Obama’s presidency, the 44th US President had tweeted: “I strongly believe that we should take on, once and for all, the issue of illegal immigration.”

Re-posting that tweet seven years later, President Trump added three simple words: “I totally agree!”
