“Wild bird flew into my house. What species is it? Is it dangerous?” — Netizen worried about their animal sighting

An online user has asked Singaporeans what kind of bird has flown into their home, sharing a picture of the animal perched on a basket.

In this week’s edition of animal sightings around Singapore, a green budgie was spotted in the home of an online user, who took to social media on Wednesday (Nov 2) to ask Singaporeans to share some information about the animal.

“Wild bird flew into my house. What species is it?” they wrote. “Is it dangerous or someone’s pet?” they added.

Many online users took to the comments section of the post to either share information or make a joke out of the post’s heading. “Yes, it’s extremely dangerous,” one replied sarcastically.

“Jokes aside, yes they are raging air piranhas that have the ability to rip the skin off of your fingers if you agitate them,” said another, “so I highly suggest wearing gloves if you wanna catch it.”

Others, however, simply responded by identifying the bird as a budgie, a common household pet, and urged the netizen to help the animal find its home by calling authorities or posting in a missing animal group.

“Please secure it and provide some water,” one said, “and post a picture of it–hiding the legs, because the owner should tell you correctly what the legs rings are (and provide) old photos of the bird to prove ownership in the Facebook group Lost and Found Birds SG…budgies don’t survive in Singapore wild.”

The netizen who published the post updated others in the comments that the animal eventually flew away. “Tried to bring the bird inside to take better photos of it,” they wrote, “but it flew away.”
