Zaqy Mohamad appointed as Halimah Yacob’s substitute in Marsiling-Yew Tee Grassroots Organisation

Member of Parliament  (MP) for Chua Chu Kang GRC, Mr Zaqy Mohamad, has been appointed as adviser to Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC Grassroots Organisation, replacing Mdm Halimah Yacob who resigned yesterday to contest the upcoming Presidential Election.

42-year-old Mr Zaqy already advises the Grassroots Organisations of Chua Chu Kang GRC.

The People’s Association (PA) said in a media release today that Mr Zaqy will work with MPs from Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC to serve residents in the ward. Marsiling Yew-Tee MPs include Minister for National Development Mr Lawrence Wong, Mr Ong Teng Koon and Mr Alex Yam.

Mdm Halimah also resigned from her role as Speaker of Parliament yesterday.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong accepted the elected politician’s resignation and added that he would be appointing leaders to her former roles.
